Welcome to our unique school—where children’s social and emotional development is as important as their academic growth.

Every year, we at the Pacific Center for Creative Learning choose several children to be part of the PCCL tradition. They are the children who we think will take advantage of and benefit most from what we have to offer, and they are chosen on the basis of the promise they exhibit. Some are returning students, some are new, but in all we see the potential to become the next leaders and innovators of our world. It is our mission to help them reach that potential.

We also look for parents who understand that learning is a natural and integral part of life and who trust that instinct in their children. The open mind will learn from field trips, community service, guest lecturers, hands-on activities, debates, and logic and board games as much as from tests and textbooks. The curious child will pick up books and focus on one topic after another whether they are assigned or not and will learn more from connecting ideas him/herself than from being told how they are connected.

In addition to providing our children with excellent, no-ceiling academics (see “Curriculum”), we introduce them to ideas, to human creativity—in other words, to the limitless possibilities—and to the importance of the open yet critical mind.

We place an emphasis also on our children’s emotional development. Our goal is for them to have the emotional strength to stand behind their ideas, to accept others’ ideas, and to be able to stand alone in the world as creative forces that may one day change it for the better.
